Editing a live survey

A survey collects responses from the moment it's created — there's no separate step to turn it on, and no way to turn it off. Editing its questions later and saving does not touch what's currently live — it opens a new, unpublished version of the questions. The editor tells you when a change is about to do this, and warns you separately when the change affects a rating question's scale, since that can change how earlier answers compare to new ones. Nothing changes on your site until you publish that new version from the editor.

Responses per person

On the Limits tab of the editor, a single switch controls whether the same person can answer the survey more than once. It's off by default, meaning one respondent answers once — turn it on to allow repeat responses from the same visitor.
