Connect an AI assistant
Connect Cursor to RawQuotes
Add the RawQuotes MCP server to Cursor's mcp.json, with sign-in or with an API key.
Connect Cursor to RawQuotes
- Add this to
~/.cursor/mcp.json(create the file if it isn't there):{ "mcpServers": { "rawquotes": { "url": "https://mcp.rawquotes.io/mcp" } } } - Cursor asks you to sign in. RawQuotes opens in your browser — choose what Cursor can do and click Allow access.
Already have other servers in that file? Add only the "rawquotes" entry inside
"mcpServers".
With an API key instead
For a setup without a browser sign-in, send an API key as a Bearer token. Keep the key in an environment variable, not in the file:
{
"mcpServers": {
"rawquotes": {
"url": "https://mcp.rawquotes.io/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ${env:RAWQUOTES_API_KEY}"
}
}
}
}
The assistant then has exactly the access of that key. A key works on the MCP server only on a plan that includes AI assistants.
Next: what Cursor can see and do, or prompts to start with.
